James Wood

James is a year 2 of 4, Data Analytics and Society CDT MSc/PhD student at the University of Leeds School of Geography and Leeds Institute for Data Analytics. His research is partially funded by the Ordnance Survey, with whom there is a close working relationship. His research is centred on West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom and uses agent-based modelling to explore equitable access to sustainable (urban) mobility, with a focus on exploring the transition away from private vehicles towards shared (autonomous) vehicle use. By exploring urban design in the context of transport and mobility in this way, he has the potential to benefit and inform local planning authorities in their goals of improving the physical urban environment, in terms of reducing the amount of space dedicated to private vehicles and benefiting the health of the population with things like improved air quality.
